NLA expected to vote for new PM on 21 or 22 August

BANGKOK, 10 August 2014 (NNT) - The National Legislative Assembly (NLA) has been set to discuss the 2015 national budget on 15 August before selecting a new prime minister by vote on 21 or 22 August.

NLA member and acting first vice president of the assembly Surachai Leongboonlertchai said the NLA would review the 2015 appropriation bill urgently since there was only one month left before the next fiscal year began. After the assembly’s first reading of the bill, a committee would be set up to study it and representatives of government units would be invited to defend their budget proposals, said Mr Surachai.

Regarding the NLA’s prime minister vote, Mr Surachai said it would likely take place on 21 or 22 August, adding that he personally wanted Chief of the National Council for Peace and Order Gen.Prayuth Chan-ocha to take up the post due to his strong will to work for the country. - See more at: http://thainews.prd.go.th/centerweb/newsen/NewsDetail?NT01_NewsID=WNPOL5708100010011#sthash.L7CaAK4F.dpuf
